The U20 competition has begun in the EWF Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest.
Karen Margaryan and Rafik Harutyunyan represented Armenia in the 81kg weight category.
This is Margaryan’s first junior tournament and he won the bronze for snatch by lifting 151kg.
Harutyunyan, who set a record in his age group in the European Championship, finished 4th in snatch with 150kg lifted.

Clean and jerk saw a much tougher competition between the weightlifters, four of whom were aiming for medals.
Margaryan used two attempts and finished 4th with combined result of 335kg.
Harutyunyan performed with more confidence and got the silver medal by lifting 190kg. He won the bronze for the combined result as well – 340kg.
