Yerevan /Mediamax/. Today, the International Weightlifting Federation has decided to give Armenia the right to host the 2027 World Championship.
This was stated by the head of the Armenia’s Prime Minister’s administration Arayik Harutyunyan.
“After the senseless act that happened at the opening ceremony of the 2023 European Weightlifting Championship, the International Weightlifting Federation expressed serious concern about the incident, as a result we lost the opportunity to host the 2024 World Championship, which was a huge blow to our sport. However, as a result of our months-long consistent work, we can consider this problem solved. A little while ago, I submitted our application, which was deemed the best and the undisputed. This is the first world championship from an Olympic sport that will be held in Armenia,” Arayik Harutyunyan wrote.
