Head coach of Armenia’s weightlifting women’s team Artashes Nersisyan is happy with their results in the European Championship. Sona Poghosyan and Arpine Dalalyan won gold medals, Tatev Hakobyan took the silver, and Izabella Yaylyan became the bronze medalist.

“The girls achieved everything we planned. I’m happy with the medals and the weights they lifted. Our athletes are top class, but we need more sportswomen. If more girls go into weightlifting in Armenia, our job will be easier,” Nersisyan told Mediamax Sport.

He noted that the female weightlifters will have individual training programs until the end of the year. They will kick off a training camp in January 2018.

“We’ll miss this year’s World Championship because of disqualification. I hope it will be in the past next autumn and we’ll be able to compete in qualifying world tournaments. Despite everything, we continue working and staying in good form,” added the head coach.
