Head coach of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team Levon Julfalakyan is happy with the results in the first international tournament of the year.

His team won 6 medals on weekend, including a gold one.

“The tournament was organized on a decent level and my boys performed well. We took many young, promising wrestlers to Kiev. True, they have a room for improvement, but we will correct their shortcomings with hard work. They are members of the team and they will continue to train with us,” said Julfalakyan.

This was the first competition for Armenian wrestlers after the regulations were changed. The coach believes they have made Greco-Roman wrestling more interesting for viewers, and he is not concerned by the rule that the athletes who reach final should wrestle on the following day.

“That regulation existed when I myself was an athlete. It does make the job a little more difficult for the wrestler, but in any case, the strongest can always win,” he added.

Armenia’s Greco-Roman team will hold a training camp on March 5-15 in Yerevan and later travel to Belarus.
