Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team is holding a training camp in Olimpavan to get ready for the XXII Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial on February 23-25, Kiev.

The Armenian athletes to perform at the international tournament are Mihran Jaburyan, Garik Barseghyan (57 kg), Volodya Frangulyan (65 kg), Valter Margaryan, Narek Sirunyan (70 kg), Grigor Grigoryan (74 kg), Varuzhan Kajoyan (79 kg), Marzpes Galstyan (86 kg) and Shamir Atyan (92 kg).

Head coach of the team Habetnak Kurghinyan told Mediamax Sport that it had been their 2nd camp, and the first one was held in Tsaghkadzor and was mainly focused on physical readiness of the athletes.

“I estimate the physical readiness of our athletes as normal. Most importantly, they don’t have injuries at the moment, and gradually they will be in a better shape. Cadets, who performed well during the Armenian Championship and won places, are also training with us. They will participate in Haroyan Memorial on March 1-3, which will be a qualifying competition for U23 group for participation in the European Championship,” Kurghinyan added.

Georgi Ketoev and Levan Berianidze won’t be included in the second training camp as well, because they are now training on their own and will join the team before the European Championship.
