International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach announced that weightlifting will be allowed in 2024 Olympic Games program, if the situation with doping in this sport keeps on improving.
“We will be soon introduced to the report on fight against doping. It is a very serious issue, so we have ordered retesting of more stored doping samples. International Weightlifting Federation must now report again by June of 2018. It will continue to follow the situation with 2024 Olympic Games,” Inside the Games quotes Bach.
IOC has already cut the number of weightlifters to participate in the 2020 Olympic Games, conditioned by recent disqualifications.
9 national teams, including Armenia missed the World Championship, held a few days ago in the United States.
