Armenia’s first biathlon/triathlon tournament among juniors has taken place at Lake Sevan.

President of the Armenian Federation of Modern Pentathlon Artak Nikoghosyan has told Mediamax Sport that the competition featured nearly 100 athletes from Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor.

“All participants were swimmers. We sent applications to all pools in the mentioned cities, and the 11-15 years old contestants had tough competition in the race, shooting and swimming exercises. We would like to thank the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which supported us throughout the tournament. It was a first in Armenia and we’re happy to see how encouraged the athletes and their coaches are,” said Nikoghosyan.

He has also noted that the federation attaches importance to engaging the marzes in competitions and intends to enhance cooperation with all sport schools in the future.

The federation’s next tournament will be held in September, when Armenian athletes will compete for the first time the Laser-Run World Championship.
