The European Weightlifting Championship will be held earlier than usual in 2020 because of the qualification events scheduled for spring.
Greco-Roman style wrestlers will be the first to compete in the championship in Rome on February 10.
Head coach Eduard Sahakyan’s team includes Rudik Mkrtchyan (55kg), Gevorg Gharibyan (60kg), Sahak Hovhannisyan (63kg), Karen Aslanyan (67kg), Malkhas Amoyan (72kg), Karapet Chalyan (77kg), Ruben Gharibyan (82kg), Maksim Manukyan (87kg), Artur Aleksanyan (97kg) and Davit Ovasapyan (130kg).
On February 14-16, it will be the freestyle wrestlers’ turn. Head coach of the freestyle team Habetnak Kurghinyan is taking 10 athletes to the European Championship: Mihran Jaburyan (57kg), Arsen Harutyunyan (61kg), Valodya Frangulyan (65kg), Gevorg Mkheyan (70kg), Hrayr Alikhanyan (74kg), Arman Avagyan (79kg), Hovhannes Mkhitaryan (86kg), Marzpet Galstyan (92kg), Sargis Hovsepyan (97kg) and Levan Berianidze (125kg).
