Silver medalist of this year’s World Championship Artur Aleksanyan has been examined in Yerevan several days ago.
Greco-Roman wrestler wasn’t able to compete in the final of the World Championship in Kazakhstan due to his injury.
The athlete’s personal and Armenia national team’s coach Gevorg Aleksanyan told Mediamax Sport that there won’t be a need for operation, as the recovery will be longer in case of the operation.
“His 7th rib is broken, cartilages are damaged. Artur still needs rest now; he should avoid movements as much as possible. We will have only light trainings for 1.5 month.” Aleksanyan noted.
The coach also touched upon the performance of Artur Aleksanyan in the World Championship. Gevorg Aleksanyan said that he liked the first 2 fights.

“The Turkish Cenk İldem was one of the strongest competitors of Artur, whose injury aggravated in the competition against him. Artur is motivated and was ready to compete till the end even with the pain, but the federation and coaches decided to cancel his participation in the final. This was the best decision to avoid complications,” Aleksanyan added.
According to him, World Championship is one of the most serious tournaments, where the strongest athletes compete, and it was impossible to easily get advantage over Musa Yevloyev in the final.
“He is a tough competitor, and it would be difficult for Artur to compete against him, especially when our goal is performing decently in the Olympic Games. It was regrettable for Artur to be the silver medalist, as he was ready for the gold. It was difficult for him, and I know we will regret about this in the future, but it wasn’t possible to take the gold this time,” the coach said.
