Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team manager Levon Julfalakyan has said that the 4th place on the European Championship’s medal table is a good result for a 7-men team.

“We had no one in three weight categories because the athletes are young and need to gain experience in different tournaments. As for the wrestlers we took to the championship, I’m happy with them in general,” said Julfalakyan.

He has noted the team will rest for a month and the wrestlers will work with their personal coaches. On June 10, the team is going to resume training together to prepare for the World Championship scheduled for October.

“We will have five training camps and two international tournaments before October. The results from them will make it clear for us who should represent Armenia in the World Championship. We have leaders, of course, who will definitely be on the team if they don’t get injured. Most likely, Arsen Julfalakyan will compete in 77kg category. Karapet Chalyan had a poor performance in the European Championship, which is concerning, but we need to see how things go. We will make the final decision after the camps and the two tournaments I mentioned,” Julfalakyan emphasized.
