U23: 4 Armenian freestyle wrestlers to compete in European Championship today

The 1st U23 European Wrestling Championship will start in Walbrzych, Poland, today.

Up to 350 wrestlers aged 18-23 from 30 countries will compete to earn the winners’ title. Armenia is represented by 12 wrestlers, out of which 7 will compete in freestyle wrestling and 5 in the Greco-Roman style. Armenian freestyle wrestlers will compete today.

On the first competition day, the medals will be drawn for wrestlers in up to 57 kg, 65 kg, 74kg and 97 kg weight categories.

Artak Hovhannisyan (57 kg) will compete with Erhan Octavian (Romania) and Narek Sirunyan (65 kg) will compete with Kyrillos Binenbaum (Greece) in the 1/8 final. Grigor Grigoryan (up to 74 kg) will start competing from the same round and his opponent will be Kamil Ribitzky.

Newcomer of the Armenian wrestling team Viktor Kazishvili (97 kg) will compete with Gennady Kudinovich (Germany) in the 1/16 final.
