Andranik Karapetyan, who received an injury during Rio Olympic Games, is recovering from surgery and eagerly waiting for his return.

The athlete’s elbow was dislocated at the second attempt of the clean and jerk exercise.

Karapetyan told MediamaxSport that the surgery in Moscow went well; wonderful specialists took care of him.

“I had no problem in the postoperative phase. They removed gypsum plaster in 20 days after the surgery. I took physical trainings in Moscow, stretched my hand and tried to move it. I am in Armenia again now and I am going to have light training in 1,5 month,” the athlete noted.

Karapetyan confessed that he has not yet accepted the injury. He especially regrets over the lost medal and is convinced that any athlete in this situation would understand his emotions and feelings.

“Nevertheless, people’s attitude and support really motivate me. They are very compassionate, always ask about my injury, and often write me on Internet. People want to see me in sport as soon as possible. I will try to overcome everything quickly and return to sports.”

The weightlifter added that he will probably miss 2017 European Championship, and try to get into shape and participate in the World Championship.
