Mihran Harutyunyan used to represent Russia until 2012.

In 2013 he decided to join Armenian team. He won medals at many international championships.

In 2015 he took the 2nd place in the European Games in Baku.

In 2015 he won an Olympic quota in the qualifying World championship.

He took the 2nd place on the list of the Best Armenian Athletes.

The same year he was awarded a Second Class Medal of Services to the Motherland.
