Olympic champion, wrestler Artur Aleksanyan returned after long recovery from injury. After brilliant performance and a gold medal in the European Games, Aleksanyan was looking forward to another gold medal, but a rib injury prevented him from getting his 4th world title. Aleksanyan had to withdraw from the final match and take the silver medal, which gave him the Olympic quota as well.
