Kobe Bryant’s ‘Dear Basketball’ has won an Oscar for the animated short. Bryant and the film’s director Glen Keane have received the award at the 90th Academy Awards ceremony that took place in Los Angeles last night.

“This is better than winning gin NBA. Honestly,” said 39-year-old Bryant.

The animated film is based on the poem that Bryant wrote before ending his professional career in 2015. In the poem, he expressed his life-long love for basketball.

Another sport-related winner is ‘Icarus’, the film about the Russian Olympics doping scandal, which received the Oscar for Best Documentary.

The director is British cyclist Bryan Fogel and the main character of the documentary is Grigory Rodchenkov, the former head of the Russian anti-doping laboratory.
