Former manager of Pyunik, Ararat Armenia, and the Armenian national team Vardan Minasyan will coach FC Taraz (Kazakhstan), which represents the town of the same name.

Minasyan is to sign the contract with the club in the coming hours, after which the Armenian coach will join the training.

Taraz finished 8th in the previous season. Until 1938, the club was called Mirzoyan, and until 2007 it bore the name of Jambul. Taraz is the farthest town in the south of Kazakhstan, bordering Kyrgyzstan.

Vardan Minasyan has experience of managing teams in Khazakstan’s club football: in 2014-2015, he coached FC Tobol, which finished 7th that season.

Before the contract with Taraz, Minasyan coached Ararat Armenia. The club became Armenia’s champion twice and came close to winning a place in the group stage of Europa League.
