Armenia women’s team suffers first loss in World Chess Olympiad

The games of Round 8 took place yesterday in World Chess Olympiad held in Batumi.

Armenian women’s team suffered the first loss since the start of the tournament, which could be decisive for a top three place. They lost 1-3 to Ukraine. Lilit Mkrtchyan and Siranush Ghukasyan earned the point for the team, while Elina Danielyan and Anna Sargsyan lost their games.

The team sits 6th now with 13 points, one point behind the leaders.

Armenian men’s team played 2-2 with Poland, with all four members of the team drawing their games. They sit 7th with 13 points. The leader is the U.S. team with 15 points.
