The Armenia national wrestling team took 2 medals and 2 qualifications for the Olympic Games in the World Championship in Nur-Sultan.

The first medal was gained by Slavik Galstyan in under 63 kg weight category. He took the bronze medal. The wrestler told Mediamax Sport about the medal and the challenges during the tournament.

This was a tough World championship for me, though I don’t remember a competition which was easy. I think my performance was well, but I could do more. I will try to win better medals next time.

The bronze medal was gained in a tough competition; my competitors were strong. I cannot single out anyone, because I put significant efforts to win the fights against all of them.

I had inexplicable emotions having won the medal, as I wanted to win a medal in the World or European championship among adults.

People say a lot that I am not the best competitor because I am tall, but I would like to say that it is also hard for me to compete with short people. They also have advantages. I succeed when I apply my opportunities in the right way.

I went to Kazakhstan with the intention to become a world champion, but I won the bronze medal, which means I deserved that. I will work harder in the future and do everything possible to achieve my goal of winning the gold medal in the World Championship.

My coaches are satisfied with my performance, and I am happy that I have a medal, but I realize my mistakes, and had I taken a step more correctly, I would have been in the final. Still, I took the bronze, for which I am thankful to my coaches and my friends.
