Armenian weightlifters win medals in qualifying Kurlovich Memorial



On 1-4 November the Alexander Kurlovich Memorial took place in Grodno, Belarus. The weightlifting tournament was qualifying for Tokyo Olympics.

Armenia was represented by 4 athletes, all of whom won medals.

 

Izabella Yaylyan of the women’s team took the silver in 59 kg weight category with the combined result of 202 kg. She lifted 92 kg in snatch and 110 kg in clean and jerk.

 

Andranik Karapetyan (81 kg) of the men’s team won the silver medal with the total result of 343 kg.

 

Bronze medalist of World, European Championship Ruben Aleksanyan earned the gold medal in super heavy category with the total result of 411 kg. Silver medalist of World Championship Gor Minasyan took the second place in the same category, falling behind Aleksanyan by just one kilogram.
