Gymnast Artur Davtyan will participate in his second Olympic Games this summer.

Mediamax Sport talked to the young but experienced sportsman and introduces him to the readers.

- Artur, you recently won a Rio-2016 Olympic quota. Will it be relatively easier to perform at the Olympics the second time?

- The gymnastics hall is completely ready. So to say, I breathed its air and felt it. This will be my second Olympiad, I will be calmer, although a bit nervous in any case.

- I suppose you walked around the city when you had free time. What are your impressions of Rio?

- Rio is a beautiful city with wonderful nature. Although, we were warned about mugging, which is a common thing in Rio. The organizers recommended to not go out alone after the dark.

- Let’s talk about the Games. What conclusions did you make after your first Olympiad?

- I make more complicated elements in the exercises now. I have to complete the second flight in the vault more confidently so as not to lose additional points.

- What kind of struggle will unfold at the Olympic Games?

- It gets progressively harder, everyone’s making their exercises more complicated. At the performance I have to flawlessly repeat what I exercised during the training.

- Do you accept criticism?

- Yes, if it’s deserved. You always have to listen to your coach, a friend who gives you advice or direction of work. Sometimes I give advice and direction to other athletes too.

- What was the biggest risk you took during a competition?

- I went to the World Championship in 2015 despite feeling dizzy. I couldn’t miss it because it was a chance to win an Olympic quota. Anyway, I performed and qualified for the test event.

- People know you as a gymnast. Tell something they don’t know about you.

- I play football well. I even wanted to leave gymnastics at a time and become a football player.

Finish the sentences.

- I love Armenia because…

- It’s my homeland.

- Sport gives people…

- Everything - strength, friends, fame.

- If I win a medal at the Olympics…

- I will be infinitely happy.
