The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has announced it will shorten bans for use of cocaine and cannabis.
The term of the disqualification will make just 3 months if the athlete proves they didn’t use the drug to enhance performance. If the athlete agrees to undergo recovery from substance abuse, the ban will be shortened down further to 1 month.
The reason of this change in regulations is that WADA is losing a lot of money in litigations with athletes.
The new rule will come into force in 2021. Under current WADA regulations, the athletes are disqualified for use of cocaine and cannabis for 4 years.
