Today the opening ceremony of Pan-Armenian Games will be held in Stepanakert.
The Pan-Armenian Games will be the 20th event since the foundation. A significant number of Armenians from about 140 cities around the world have gathered in Stepanakert. The number of participants is more than 5000.
Mediamax Sport correspondent reports from Stepanakert that the competition in the following disciplines will kick off in Artsakh: football, cycling, chess, arm wrestling, dance sport and volleyball. Other competitions will take place in Yerevan from August 9.
Member of Pan-Armenian Games Organizing Committee Derenik Gabrielyan said that the flame at Stepan Shahumyan Stadium will be lighted by Olympic champion Hrachya Petikyan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, Archbishop Pargev, Pan-Armenian Games Committee Deputy Chairman Albert Boyajian.
“The event will start at 9 p.m. and last for 3.5 hours; the host is Karen Giloyan. The opening ceremony will be great, the organizers have found some very amazing solutions. I am convinced that everyone will enjoy it,” Gabrielyan said.
