Tokyo 2020 organizers have revealed the names of the mascots for the Olympic and Paralympic games.
The white and blue talisman represents the Olympic Games. Its name is Miraitowa, comprised of Japanese words mirai (future) and towa (eternity) combined.
The Paralympic mascot is Someity, dressed in white and pink. The name comes from someiyoshino, a popular cherry blossom variety, and additionally echoes the English phrase “so mighty”.
The mascots had been selected in February. Tokyo 2020 will be held from July 24 to August 9.
