International Olympic Committee (IOC) has dropped Turkey’s bid for hosting 2026 Winter Olympics.

IOC President Thomas Bach noted that IOC board nominated three bids for 2026 Winter Olympics: Calgary (Canada), Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo(Italy), Stockholm (Sweden).

Erzurum was left out since the city didn’t comply with all necessary criteria. Particularly, transportation wasn’t good enough.

Bids from Innsbruck (Austria), Sapporo (Japan) and Sion (Switzerland) were previously dropped.

The venue will be decided in September of 2019.
