Rafael Nadal won the 16th Grand Slam title in his career.
The Spaniard defeated Kevin Anderson (South Africa) 6:3, 6:3, 6:4 in the US Open final.
The game lasted for 2 hours and 27 minutes and was dominated by the world’s top player. The win brought him a USD 3.7bn check and 2000 ranking points.
“The most important thing for me is to be happy. It’s even more important than the slams. I’m happy if I’m healthy and able to fight for victory in most tournaments. That’s how things were this year. I’m very pleased with what happened, with my wins in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid, and Roland-Garros. I’m happy with the US Open win too,” said Nadal.
Nadal won more than one Grand Slam title in a season 4 times throughout his career. He took two titles in each of the 2008 and 2010 seasons and won 3 Grand Slams in 2013. Moreover, the Spaniard is the 6th player to win 3 US Open titles.
