Armenian tennis player representing Russia Margarita Gasparyan has won the first WTA (Women's Tennis Association) title of her career.
The 20-year-old tennis player has gained a double victory at the Baku Cup. Although she was not a favorite, she managed to win stronger opponents from the very start.
She won Patricia Maria Tig in the final. This victory will gain her USD 43 thousand and 280 qualifying points. Owing to this, she will be able to play at Grand Slam without any need to overcome the qualifying round.
Margarita Gasparyan also won Alexandra Panova in Baku.
“It was an unforgettable week. I liked everything. I am thankful to everyone who rooted for me,” she said.
