The European Chess Association has held the European Championship online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
4,000 players competed for the title on May 16-31.
Armenia representative Gabriel Sargsyan has won the bronze medal in the group of players with ranking above 2300. The champion is Alexey Sarana and the runner-up is David Navara (Czech Republic).
In December 2019, Gabriel Sargsyan won the European title in the rapid chess competition in Estonia.
