President of FIDE Arkady Dvorkovich announced that Yekaterinburg will host the Candidates Tournament in 2020.
This decision was made at Presidential Council of FIDE. It is still unknown whether another city also took part in the competition to hold the tournament or not. It also hasn’t been announced what circumstances were taken into consideration when deciding to trust the tournament to Yekaterinburg.
The final date of the tournament isn’t known yet. The winner will be able to compete against Magnus Carlsen for the title of the world champion.
