Armenian women’s team defeats Russia in Chess Olympiad

Armenian women’s team continues successful performances in World Chess Olympiad in Batumi.

The team, coached by Artur Chibukhchyan defeated 3:1 the Russian team in the 6th round. The winners are Lilit Mkrtchyan, Siranush Ghukasyan. Elina Danielyan and Anna Sargsyan drew.

The Armenian team is in the 3rd place with 11 points. U.S. and Georgia-1 also scored the same number of points and are currently in the 1st and 2nd places.

The men’s team got advantage 3.5:0.5 over Macedonian team. Gabriel Sargsyan, Robert Hovhannisyan and Hayk Martirosyan registered victories and Levon Aronian drew.

Armenia is now in the 7th place with 10 points and falls behind the leaders by 2 points.
