2018 Champions Showdown kicks off today in Saint Louis, USA. Ten chess players will compete in 6 rapid and 14 blitz games. Two games of each type are scheduled for today.
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian will face Leinier Dominguez (Cuba) in the first round. Other pairings are Garry Kasparov – Veselin Topalov, Hikaru Nakamura – Peter Svidler, Wesley So – Anish Giri, and Sam Shankland – Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
Champions Showdown prize fund is USD 250 000.
