Levon Aronian will participate in Candidates’ Tournament in Moscow in a few days. He confessed to love that tournament where the strongest wins. He also admitted that he wanted to become a world champion very much.

“Usually, the player who starts strong is the one who wins in the end. I believe that no person has ever earned the right to compete for the title by chance,” Armenian chess player told sport-express.ru.

Aronian stressed that he wants to be the best everywhere, and now is the right time to make a decisive step.

He performed in Zurich Tournament recently, where he took the 5th place. The chess player realized that he’s far from his best sport and mental condition yet. “You can’t be pleased with yourself when you don’t play well. You should work and correct all shortcomings before the Candidates’ Tournament. You need to be ready not just physically, but with your chess skills as well.”

Aronian noted that he was lucky to be included in Candidates’ Tournament, though he doesn’t think he deserved it.

“I am a kind person, and that’s the reason I feel the need to charge myself. It’s a pity there is no “angering pill” like the one in the cartoon about Leopold. I do my best to get angry at myself, my opponents and everything around me, but I fail as I’m not inclined to that. It’s an important factor in chess,” observed he.

Candidates’ Tournament will take place on March 11-28 in Moscow. Aronian will compete with Anish Giri (Netherlands) in the first round.
