The Armenian national freestyle wrestling team won 2 bronze medals in World Wrestling Championship. Georgi Ketoev and Levan Berianidze returned from Paris with medals for Armenia.

Georgi Ketoev

I am very happy for being able to win the gold and raise Armenia’s flag after such a long time. This country is like a second homeland for me.

I am committed to performing even better in the future to be completely ready for 2020 Olympic Games.

This time I defeated my competitor in 2016 Rio Olympic Games and became bronze medalist of the World Championship. I was ready for this victory both physically and psychologically.

Levan Berianidze

I managed to keep my weight and felt really great throughout the competition. I was prepared psychologically when my fight began. My competitor was a great wrestler, but I was stronger at the moment.

It was not the best result, since we do not have champions. Anyway, I am content that we have come back with two bronze medals and Armenian team took the 10th place by total points.

Last time Armenian freestyle wrestling won 2 medals in 1995.  We will hold Armenian Wrestling Federation’s session during the coming days, and I think acting coach Habetnak Kurghinyan will be appointed as Head Coach of the team.
