Head coach for freestyle wrestling national team Araik Baghdadyan whose two out of seven wrestlers have earned medals at U23 European Championship has positively assessed the national’s performance.
“Volodya Frangulyan excellently competed and won the gold medal. He also did well at the Tournament of Alexander Medved in Belarus held prior to that. This time he confidently won four fights,” said Baghdadyan.
The coach also analyzed the performance of Grigor Grigoryan who stood on the second spot of the European Championship podium. Grigor Grigoryan confidently won the three fights and lost only in the final.
The freestyle wrestlers also shared their impressions.
“Our team was comprised of the strongest but the wrestling with the Turk was the hardest. He was very well prepared, but I managed to pull myself together and win,” said Volodya Frangulyan.
“I came from Belarus to Armenia because of an injury and got it treated as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, I won a silver medal. I will do my best to perform better next time,” added Grigor Grigoryan.
