Armenia has earned the second silver medal in Fajr Cup held in Rasht, Iran.
World, Europe and Olympic champion Simon Martirosyan won the silver medal in heavy weight category with the combined result of 410 kg. In snatch, Martirosyan lifted 180kg, and in clean and jerk – 230 kg.
Ruben Aleksanyan was also supposed to compete in heavy weight category, but the athlete had to withdraw due to injury.
In October 2019 Simon Martirosyan won his second world title with the combined result of 434 kg.
Earlier in Fajr Cup, another Armenian weightlifter Hakob Mkrtchyan won the silver medal in 96kg weight category.
