World, European champion Hakob Mkrtchyan has won the silver medal in Fajr Cup, which is a qualification event for Tokyo Olympics.
The Armenian weightlifter competed in the new for him, 96kg weight category. He earned the silver medal with a combined result of 345 kg. Mkrtchyan also won the bronze medal for snatch by lifting 155 kg and the silver medal for clean and jerk by lifting 190 kg.
Another Armenia representative Andranik Karapetyan (81kg) finished 4th with the combined result of 345 kg yesterday.
Today, Armenia will be represented by bronze medalist of European and World Championships Ruben Aleksanyan and World, European, Olympic champion Simon Martirosyan in the heavy weight category.
