The qualifying International Qatar Cup kicked off in Doha today.
Armenia is represented by 4 athletes: European champion Andranik Karapetyan (81 kg), European and World champion Hakob Mkrtchyan (96 kg), silver medalist of World Championship and Olympic Games Gor Minasyan and bronze medalist of World and European championships Ruben Aleksanyan (+109 kg).
This is the first time Mkrtchyan performs in 96 kg category. He moved to it after the U23 European Championship, held in October, during which he competed in 89 kg category.
The Armenian team prepared for the Qatar Cup during the training camp in Abovyan, Armenia.
