2 Armenian wrestlers to contend for bronze in Junior World Championship

Two members of the Armenia freestyle wrestling team will contend for bronze medals in Junior World Championship.

European Championship’s bronze medalist Arsen Harutyunyan (55kg) defeated his 1/8 finals competitor Petru Craciun (Moldova) in Tampere, Finland.

He faced a Russian wrestler next. Harutyunyan got a big margin of 9-0 against the other athlete but lost his grip on the match and was defeated 9-11.

In the following match Harutyunyan won 16-5 against a Georgia representative. He will compete with Ramzan Awtaew (Germany) for the bronze tonight.

Another member of the Armenia team Gevorg Mkheyan (66kg) also contends for the bronze medal. He’s had 4 matches and won 3 of them, losing only in the semi-finals. His competitor for the bronze will be the winner of the match between athletes from Georgia and Algeria.

Two other Armenian athletes, Hovhannes Mkhitaryan (84kg) and Hovhannes Maghakyan (120kg) lost their respective matches and are out of the competition.
