The head coach for the men's weightlifting team of Armenia Pashik Alaverdyan is content with the results that his team demonstrated in the European Weightlifting Championship.

He noted that the men did not train much after the Olympic Games, though they were able to work properly only for several months and gain medals in the European Championship.

“This year I am going to choose the young people to join the main squad and compete in the World Championships and 2020 Olympic Games. Samvel Gasparyan and Karush Ghukasyan participated in the adult’s competition for the first time. Samvel showed great results, while Karush still has a lot of work to do. I am also content with the results of Andranik Karapetyan, which performed for the first time after his injury. He can lift more kilograms, but together with other coaches we decided not to take the risk this time. I am happy for the medalists, they registered good results,” Pashik Alaverdyan said.

Simon Martirosyan (105 kg) became European champion, while Gor Minasyan and Ruben Aleksanyan (+105 kg) took silver and bronze medals.
