Armenia was represented by three athletes at the Junior and U23 European Weightlifting Championships yesterday, two of whom became medalists.
Participant of Rio Olympics Sona Poghosyan (75kg) took the second place in the women’s competition. Poghosyan lifted 96kg in snatch, and 122kg in clean and jerk. Armenian athlete won the silver medal with 218kg result.
Samvel Gasparyan (94kg) took bronze in the Junior Championship. With 346kg result (150kg in snatch and 196 in clean and jerk) he became another medalist of the Armenia team.
Hakob Mkrtchyan (85kg) also partook in the Junior Championship and took the 4th place.
Earlier Davit Hovhannisyan (77kg) won the gold in the same championship.
Another Armenian athlete - Simon Martirosyan (105kg) will also perform in the Junior Championship, while Karush Ghukasyan (94kg) , Mkrtich Mkrtchyan (105kg) and Arpine Dalalyan (+75) are to compete in the U23 Championship.
