Armenian teams sit a point behind leaders in World Chess Olympiad

World Chess Olympiad is nearing the end in Batumi and both Armenian women’s and men’s teams won in Round 9 yesterday.

The men’s team beat India 2.5-1.5 thanks to Hayk Martirosyan winning his game, while Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargsyan and Hrant Melkumyan earned half point each.

Women’s team beat Iran 3-1. Elina Danielyan and Anna Sargsyan earned two points by winning their games, Lilit Mkrtchyan and Siranush Ghukasyan got draws.

Both teams now have 15 points and sit a point behind the leaders.
