Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers won 4 medals in World Military Championship in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

Karen Aslanyan (66kg) won the gold medal, Armen Hakobyan (71 kg) and Edgar Khachatryan (130 kg) took the silver and Rafik Manukyan (80 kg) bronze medals.

Head Coach of Armenian Greco-Roman junior wrestling team Armen Babalaryan told Mediamax Sport that overall he is content with the performance of his athletes.

“Of course, they could perform better, but we have this result anyway. Karen fought perfectly and won the gold medal. Edgar is performing in heavyweight category though he weighs only 111 kg. He is not as heavy as his competitors, so he couldn’t make it in the final. This was the first performance of Armen among the adults, and he was able to win the silver. Rafik could also qualify for the final,” the coach said.

The young Armenian wrestlers will compete in Harutyun Khachatryan Tournament on October 17-18 and in Iran Tournament in November.
