The Armenia freestyle wrestling team is preparing in Tsaghkadzor for the international tournament that’ll take place in Turkey on March 9.

This is the team’s first training with the new manager, Armen Mkrtchyan. He told Mediamax Sport that he easily found common ground with the athletes.

“We are working on technical, physical fitness and speed. We do everything to perform well in the upcoming tournament. We don’t know each other well yet, so I cannot give evaluation to the athletes, but I believe we have a good team,” Mkrtchyan said.

The team’s training in Tsaghkadzor will end on March 8. The 30 athletes, participating in it, took prize place in the Armenian Championship, held several weeks ago. Mkrtchyan also gives the substitutes an opportunity to show what they can do.

“It’s very important for them to train together and learn from each other. They all need to know they aren’t neglected. I intend to take the third substitutes to the tournament as well,” he said.

In the Turkey tournament Armenia will be represented by Garik Barseghyan (57kg), Valodya Frangulyan (61kg), Narek Sirunyan (65kg), Valter Margaryan (70kg), Grigor Grigoryan and Varuzhan Kajoyan (74kg), Vahe Tamrazyan (86kg), Shamir Atyan and Georgi Ketoev (97kg), and Andranik Galstyan (125kg).

Super weight Levan Berianidze will miss the upcoming tournament, and Ashot Velitsyan (61kg) will compete if he solves his passport issue timely.
