Armenian weightlifter Tigran Martirosyan received the silver medal of Beijing Olympic Games.

The athlete was awarded the bronze back in 2008, but since then the International Olympic Committee disqualified the silver medalist Andrei Rybakov (Belarus).

A few days earlier the Armenian weightlifter finally received the silver medal. He told Mediamax Sport how he felt about the story.

“Olympic silver is the most important medal in my career, so naturally, I was very happy to get it. I still have negative attitude towards disqualification, I don’t think it’s right to take medals away from athletes,” he said.

Martirosyan also spoke about Armenia’s one-year disqualification. He noted that the International Weightlifting Federation should apply stricter anti-doping control instead of punishing uninvolved athletes for violations that happened a long time ago.
