Three Armenian weightlifters will take part in the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade on August 19-30.
Head coach of the Armenia men’s weightlifting team, Secretary General of Armenian Weightlifting Federation Pashik Alaverdyan revealed that European champion, bronze medalist of World Championship Andranik Karapetyan (85kg), winner of European and Junior World Championship, silver medalist of Rio Olympics Simon Martirosyan (105kg), and silver medalist of Rio Olympics and European Championship Gor Minasyan (105+kg) will represent Armenia in the competition.
“Andranik will compete in the 85kg category after recovering from the injury he sustained in the Olympics. He’s already able to lift considerable weights and we believe he can participate in the Universiade,” Alaverdyan said.
