European Champion, silver medalist of the Olympic Games Simon Martirosyan continues wonderful performances on the global stage.

In recent days Simon got his second gold medal this year, when he won the Junior World Weightlifting Championship in Tokyo. He also repeated his result of 426kg of last year.

“Although coaches are pleased with my results, I don’t really agree with them. I failed to lift 246kg in clean and jerk and set a world record. I will try to do that this year. I believe I moved hurriedly and that prevented me from succeeding,” the weightlifter said.

Martirosyan doesn’t think that winning multiple medals at young age will hinder his further achievements: “I haven’t won World Championship or Olympics yet, so I will try to do that.”

Bronze medalist of the World Championship Sona Poghosyan is also pleased with her performance, but won’t settle for little.

“Next year I will try to become a champion and achieve more,” the athlete remarked.
