Armenia won its first medal in the European Weightlifting Championships in Eilat, Israel.
Davit Hovhannisyan (77kg) won the gold in the Junior European Weightlifting Championship.
Armenian weightlifter took the third place in snatch with 149kg, and the first in clean and jerk with 177kg.
With 326kg result Davit Hovhannisyan won the gold medal of EWC, beating his competitors to the second and third place with one kilogram.
Izabella Yaylyan (58kg) performed in women’s competition yesterday and finished on the 5th position with 190kg.
Other Armenian athletes who will perform in the Junior Championship are Hakob Mkrtchyan (85kg), Samvel Gasparyan (94kg) and Simon Martirosyan (105kg).
U23 Championship will see performance of Razmik Oltetsyan (77kg), Karush Ghukasyan (94kg) and Mkrtich Mkrtchyan (105kg).
Sona Poghosyan (75kg) and Arpine Dalalyan (+75kg) will perform in women’s competition.
