Armenia’s youth and junior teams have won 86 medals so far in European and World championships in 2018, Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia Gabriel Ghazaryan told the press.

“Our wrestlers performed brilliantly in the Junior European Championship a few days ago. We have not had three gold medals in freestyle wrestling for a long time. Undoubtedly, this is a result of good work. We hope our senior teams will record good results too in the tournaments that start in the autumn,” said Ghazaryan.

He added that 2018 and 2019 are pre-Olympic years, so the Olympic Committee of Armenia has already started the preparations. According to Gabriel Ghazaryan, if the work goes on in the same pace, Armenia will have more athletes and will be represented in more sports during Tokyo Olympics.
