The newly appointed Head Coach of the Armenia national football team Bernard Challandes told journalists that Vardan Minasyan has done tremendous work and has taken the team very close to EURO-2012 final.
The Swiss expert highlighted his great wish to take the Armenia national to EURO-2016 final.
“It’s my primary goal and the first challenge. I am not a tourist here; I have come to win. I have read pretty much about Armenia and I would like to discover this country with my wife. We will arrive in May. An interesting life awaits us here”, the coach noted.
Bernard Challandes said that Armenia has appeared in a rather difficult group in EURO-2016 in which Armenia’s main rival is Portugal. Challandes even joked saying he would love to see Cristiano Ronaldo getting injured during the match with Armenia, “I will assume the role of the leader and will motivate everyone, even though I believe Armenian footballers do want to appear in EURO final”.
Bernard Challandes said he doesn’t think his not knowing Armenian will hinder his communication with the footballers as he prefers to show everything in the field rather than talk but if there needs to be a verbal communication, then he will turn to his interpreter’s help.
This weekend Bernard Challandes watched three matches of the Armenia national football team. According to him, the only weak point of the Armenia national team is it yields in speed.
