Levon Aronian started competition in blitz chess after winning rapid competition of Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz within Grand Chess Tour.
The players had 9 pairings on the first day. Aronian won 5 of them, defeating Le Quang Liem, Viswanathan Anand, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Garry Kasparov and Leinier Dominguez.
The Armenian grandmaster drew with Hikaru Nakamura, David Navara and Sergey Karjakin. He only lost to Fabiano Caruana.
Aronian won 18,5 points and is currently leading the tournament.
