Aronian finishes 1st Grand Prix tournament with a loss

The first tournament of FIDE Grand Prix has ended in Sharjah. 18 chess players competed in it.

In the last round, Levon Aronian played the black and lost to Ding Liren. That was the first game the Armenian grandmaster lost, drawing all his previous games. Now Aronian is the 13th and has 4 points.

Alexander Grischuk (Russia) with 5.5 points leads the table, having excelled Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) only by additional parameters.

Grand Prix is comprised of 4 tournaments. Other three will be held in Moscow, Geneva and Palma de Mallorca.

The chess players, who win the first and second places, will qualify for World Chess Candidates Tournament.
